Latin Dance Lessons with Arthur Murray

Stomp! Clap! Flourish! And don't forget to sway those hips as you move ... Latin dance classes with Arthur Murray are vibrant, energising and a whole lot of fun. We teach all different types of Latin dances, and you can choose to focus on a specific one, or to gain a broad overview of different Latin dances in classes, to develop that look of Latin love!

Latin dances look impressive and difficult ... but also entrancing and very uplifting! Arthur Murray's expert teachers can help you achieve that flair and perfection in Latin dance lessons focusing on dances like:

Bolero:

With its striking intensity and dark-eyed romance, bolero dance is one of the easiest dances to learn at a Latin dance studio.

Is bolero the right Latin dance class for me? We recommend that you choose to focus on bolero in your Latin dance classes if:

  • You're after a slower style
  • You want to improve joint mobility and stay safe while dancing
  • You're interested in a fusion of ballroom and Latin dance class styles

Can I dance bolero in clubs and pubs? The slower 95 - 105bpm bolero music means your main opportunities for practising bolero will be in our social dance occasions. However it is a fantastic style to have in your repertoire for some very different moves and interpretations!

Cha Cha:

The cha-cha sounds tricky when explained, but actually comes very naturally to most people. If not, your Latin dance studio instructor will certainly use every bit of Spanish magic in their power to help you feel the rhythm!

Is the cha cha the right Latin dance class for me? We recommend that you choose to focus on the cha cha in your Latin dance classes if:

  • You want a Latin dance studio style that is appropriate for a wide range of popular music
  • You're starting out in Latin dance classes
  • You have healthy feet and lower back

Can I dance cha cha in clubs and pubs? Cha cha dancing actually suits a massive range of popular music, including tunes by Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Santana and Kirsty McColl. When you learn to recognise that beat, you'll find that there are plenty of excuses to use your Latin dance class-developed cha cha skills!

Rumba:

Similar to the bolero, the rumba is one of the bases of all other faster and fancier Latin dances. Classes for the rumba are fantastic for beginners.

Is Rumba the right Latin dance class for me? We recommend that you choose to focus on rumba in your Latin dance classes if:

  • You're a beginner dancer
  • You have any joint problems
  • You want to expand your dance move repertoire with moves that have a very different flavour.

Can I dance rumba in clubs and pubs? Rumba is a fantastic way to help beginner dancers learn to move in pubs and clubs.

Samba:

Samba is actually a Unesco-listed heritage item, in the category of 'Intangible Goods'! In its own exotic way, the samba dancing you'll learn at Arthur Murray's Latin dance studios is a very classical and traditional form of dance.

Is samba the right Latin dance class for me? We recommend that you choose to focus on samba in your Latin dance classes if:

  • You want an energetic and exuberant Latin dance lesson style
  • You want to learn a dance that is appropriate for solo practice
  • You're female!

Can I dance samba in clubs and pubs? Definitely - samba practice in your Latin dance classes can pay off in clubs playing a wide range of popular music.

Salsa:

Spinning, switching and stepping salsa dancing is one of the main styles of dance in Latin clubs. Our Latin dance classes focus heavily on salsa ... and students have a great time doing it!

Is Salsa the right Latin dance class for me? We recommend that you choose to focus on Salsa in your Latin dance classes if:

  • You enjoy salsa music!
  • You want a sensual, sexy style of dance
  • You have a favourite Latin dance club - salsa is the primary style of Latin dance
  • You mostly want to dance with a partner
  • You have a healthy lower back

You can learn salsa in your Latin dance classes at all levels of experience, from beginner to expert.

Can I dance Salsa in clubs and pubs? Certainly! There are both partnered and unpartnered styles of Salsa, and you'll be able to use the skills learned in your Latin dance classes every Friday and Saturday night. Go for a jazz and dance club rather than a traditional nightclub playing electronica if you want to brush up or show off salsa skills.
