Group Dance Lessons & Partner Dancing

Arthur Murrays teach partner dancing with a combination of Private lessons, where you have your own teacher and Group dance lessons and Socials, which are parties.

Learning anything physical, you need repetition and this is where Group dance lessons are so important. They give the teacher a chance to break down the steps, to work on the patterns, the footwork( that is how to use your feet) timing, lead and follow so that each person in the Group dance lesson knows those steps so well that they can practice their partner dancing skills with anyone.

Group dance lessons help to prepare you for partner dancing with people of different shapes and sizes. We try to prepare you for whomever you may encounter in a social situation.

Group dance lessons teach balance. If you can maintain your balance when practicing on your own, you will find partner dancing so much easier and you will be lighter to dance with.

Group dance lessons teach you floorcraft, that is the ability to dance around a crowded floor without running into every other dancer and this is an important aspect of partner dancing.

In group dance lessons students are encouraged to develop their own style, their own self expression, which makes partner dancing look more interesting and it feels great.

Group dance lessons are essential to couples learning to dance together. Although our priority is to have them dance confidently together , having to partner dance with someone you don’t know makes each person conscious of doing their part, whether it be lead or follow.

Group dance lessons are fun, easy and give everyone an opportunity to learn that they too can enjoy partner dancing.
