Dance Styles
FOXTROT
Is a basic dance from which you can acquire a good
foundation. Today it is still the most popular of
all social dances. Some people refer to the Foxtrot
as the “Slow Dance” or the “Two-Step” because of
it’s closeness and conversation ability at the same
time. The Foxtrot is good for developing
“smoothness’ and “ease of movement”.

WALTZ
The “mother of all dances”.
Waltz was the first dance in which a woman was
actually held in a man’s arms. The Waltz develops
“graceful movements” and “poise”. Every wedding,
reception, social “black-tie” formal includes waltz
steps. At our Sydney dance school we can even teach
you the waltz for your wedding day.
TANGO
Although widely believed to
have originated in Argentina, it actually may have
come from Spain. It’s dramatic, exciting and is
known as the “Dancers” dance. The Tango with all
it’s staccato movements, greatly improves a man’s
lead or a woman’s ability to follow. Tango also
develops a “strong sense of feeling” for music.

CHA
CHA
One of the most popular Latin dances, Cha Cha began
as a variation of the Mambo called Triple Mambo. It
was so easy and so much fun it became the rage of
the 1950’s. It’s infectious one-two, one-two-three
rhythm demands that sitters become dancers. It’s a
must style to know. It’s a style that all of our
students at our Sydney dance school must know!
SALSA
A faster version of the Mambo laced with steps from
other Latin dances. The Salsa is performed to a
fiery, quick tempo. Some call it a Latinized ‘Rock N
Roll’. It is a high energy dance and lots of fun to
do.
